Italian Hot Chocolate
Ingredients (serves 4)
180g dark bittersweet chocolate, roughly chopped
2 tbsp. cocoa powder
1 ½ cups milk
2 tsp cornflour
2 tbsp. white sugar
Whipped cream for the top
Chocolate shavings for garnish
Add milk, chocolate, cocoa powder and sugar into a small saucepan and whisk over low heat. As the chocolate is melting, whisk from time to time to ensure to remove any lumps.
Once all the chocolate has melted, remove from the heat and set aside. Add cornflour and giving it a good whisk, making sure it has combined well and completely dissolved.
Return to a low heat, whisking until combined. The mixture will gradually start to thicken. Once it starts to bubble and come to a gentle simmer, remove from the heat, as you don’t want to let it come to a boil. Slightly cool and pour chocolate into mugs or coffee cups.
Garnish with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
